What we’re looking for
Argus is seeking a highly driven, enthusiastic, and analytical Latin America market reporter to join its global Agriculture team. The ideal candidate is innately curious and personable, able to quickly become a subject matter expert and lead coverage within a designated product portfolio.
What will you be doing
Your role will include engaging with an Argentina-based (and some Brazil-based) contacts, generating content for the AgriMarkets daily service, driving market coverage, producing analyses and datasets related to the Latin American grains and oilseeds markets. The environment is fast paced but values careful thought. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe. Areas of coverage include wheat, barley, corn, soybean meal, and the wider oilseeds complex in Latin America.
Key Responsabilities
- Build and maintain a network of relevant industry contacts (brokers, traders, industry associations, etc.)
- Communicate with market participants via phone, email, or other communication platforms to collect market data (prices, supply, demand, market conditions, etc.) as well as other subjective market observations and insights from industry contacts.
- Develop thorough knowledge of market shaping factors, and key industry stakeholders.
- Analyze raw industry data and other forms of market news to remain on-top of developing issues within Argentina and Brazil commodity markets, and produce written tight-copy and detailed long-form market reporting.
- Help develop coverage in areas where agriculture markets intersect with biofuels markets to create highly valuable content.
- Present agriculture commodities market data and insights to contacts and industry stakeholders.
- Communicate information collected from industry contacts to other editorial and research staff.
- Identify and communicate changes in market reporting and contacts’ information needs.
- Identify and communicate on wider commercial opportunities for the business.
Skills and Experience
- Fluency in English, Spanish and Portuguese mandatory.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, economics, business, or relevant field.
- Demonstrated goal-oriented collaboration skills, with strong diplomatic and problem-solving ability.
- A basic understanding of economics.
- A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel.
