What we’re looking for
We are currently looking for a passionate, driven, and energetic Manager to support our biofuels research and analysis in the Argus Consulting practice.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent analyst and will thrive in a fast-paced environment. They will also be process-oriented and have a keen eye for detail. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their career in biofuels analysis and the broader energy economy.
You will work on a range of biofuels market research topics and will have the opportunity to take ownership of a strategic product in our portfolio of biofuels subscriptions, working alongside analysts in the team that will support data development, modelling, and analysis. What will you be doing?
- Lead analysis on North and South American biofuels and bio feedstocks topics to provide input to Argus off-the-shelf biofuels analytical subscriptions. This will include a monthly short term forecast for North and South American biofuels markets and contributions to a quarterly long term research product covering global and regional biofuels markets.
- Coordinate analysis and the development of data sets and models to support short and long-term forecasting of supply, demand, capacity, imports and exports, price and production costs for key biofuels and renewable fuels and feedstocks
- Support improvement work on global feedstock availability model, particularly with retrieving North and South American-specific data and helping calibrate the forecasts.
- Consolidate knowledge on regulations in the US, Canada, and Brazil impacting biofuels demand. This should lead to the development of an Americas regulation handbook/primer – a document explaining current and future regulation in detail and outlining the impact on biofuels demand and prices.
- Support bespoke Consulting projects with clients as a Subject Matter Advisor
- Contribute as a subject matter expert to sales, marketing and business development initiatives in the Americas region
Skills and Experience
- At least 7 years’ experience in energy and/or commodity industries operating in roles such as:
- Analytical roles for a major energy company (i.e. market analysis, strategy & planning, performance reporting, etc.)
- Energy research or data organisation
- Management consulting
- Energy analyst role in a financial services organisation
- At least 2 years’ experience with biofuels and/or relevant credits such as RINS or LCFS
- Educated to bachelor’s degree level from a leading university.
- Further education (e.g., Masters, MBA) a plus
- Highly numerate, with experience analysing large datasets with excellent attention to detail and accuracy focus
- Intellectually curious and able to demonstrate structured problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of structuring and leading projects
- Strong IT skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks to deadline and to meet targets
- Flexible in approach, highly motivated and willing to contribute to the growth of Argus’ biofuels research.
