What will you be doing?

 

Argus is seeking an Editor to lead our Houston Biofuels Team, working with and closely supporting other teams and editors. The ideal candidate is innately curious and personable, already a subject matter expert who can lead coverage that includes biodiesel, ethanol, renewable diesel, renewable feedstocks, sustainable aviation fuel, and RIN credits. The applicant must have an interest in energy, policy and economics, enjoy people and building relationships, and have a comfort with excel. Experience covering commodities or energy/environmental policy is ideal.

 

The role requires daily monitoring and assessing biofuels markets to produce and oversee news, price assessments, market commentaries and reports on an array of biofuel products, while developing and maintaining rapport with key contacts and liaising regularly with industry stakeholders, including making external presentations. As part of your role, you will expand market contacts, applying the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity.

 

Prior experience on commodities markets is highly useful. Intelligence, curiosity, writing ability and a real desire to become a better journalist are the primary qualities we look for in a very diverse pool of candidates. 

 

 

What we’re looking for in you:

  • The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, economics, business, agriculture, geography or relevant field.
  • Demonstrated goal-oriented collaboration skills, with strong diplomatic and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong co-ordination and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team.
  • Experience in a professional publishing capacity or in an analyst role is helpful.
  • A basic understanding of economics and biofuels markets.
  • Ability to analyze data and write engaging content.
  • Excellent communication skills with aptitude to network and build contacts.
  • A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with particular comfort with Excel.
