Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Company Description
Oak Street Health is a rapidly growing, innovative company of community-based healthcare centers delivering higher quality health and wellness care that improves outcomes, manages medical costs and provides an unmatched experience for adults on Medicare in medically underserved communities. By providing holistic, comprehensive and integrated care right in our patients’ communities, we can help keep them healthy and reinvest cost savings in further care for those same communities and others. Since 2013, Oak Street Health has brought its singular approach to tens of thousands of people across the nation. With an ambitious growth trajectory, Oak Street Health is attracting and cultivating team members who embody Oak Street values and are passionate about our mission to rebuild healthcare as it should be.

We have taken steps to place value on the contributions of nurse practitioners in our organization which has included the appointment of nurse practitioners as medical directors of clinics.  We are looking for nurse practitioners who are intrinsically motivated to provide this kind of excellent care for our patients. We recognize the importance of treating the whole person, which is why we have mental health professionals on our integrated team including psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, and behavior health clinical social workers who work with our  primary care providers, which include physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

Oak Street Health is looking for a full- or part- time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric care for our patients attending our primary care clinics. We provide the opportunity to see patients by telepsychiatry with flexibility to see patients in clinic as well or a combination.  In clinic visits will be conducted in one of our Chicagoland area clinics. Tele-visits may be conducted from a home office or location of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners choice, provided it has reliable access to phone and internet.

Tele-visits are conducted remotely through a HIPAA-compliant, user friendly telemedicine web application. There is some flexibility on hours worked but are generally normal business hours Monday to Friday and no weekends. This is a salaried, non-productivity-based role.  (non-productivity base salary with potential for an additional annual bonus?) We provide adequate time periods to see patients as well as administrative time.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner role offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with the patient’s behavior health clinical social worker, which offers great support to the patient as well as the clinician. Telepsychiatry visits are integrated visits with the patient and the behavioral health clinical social worker present in clinic together for the visit.

Additionally we offer a robust training and mentoring program for nurse practitioners tailored to the needs and experience level of our new providers.  Mentoring with an experienced psychiatric nurse practitioner will be available weekly and on an as needed basis for the first few months and then periodically after that for case consultations and support.  For those new to telepsychiatry, you will train in person with an experienced psychiatric nurse practitioner and initially see patients together. We will provide you the necessary equipment and you will receive adequate technical support for telepsychiatry.

Ideal candidates will be:

  • Passionate about their work, eager to have fun with our team, motivated to be a part of a fast growing organization.
  • Comfortable with coexisting substance abuse and mental health disorders but additional training in this area will be provided as needed
  • Interested in the underserved community
  • Have an active, non-probationary Illinois medical license.
