Title: Sr. Associate, Payroll

Role Description:

The Sr. Associate, Payroll will be responsible for the Company’s payroll administration and ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. This individual will work closely with their manager, as well as our outside service provider and counterparts at our parent Company. A successful candidate for this role will be strong in processing payroll for multi-states. This role also requires strong oral and written communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the desire to innovate and improve.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems, along with third party payroll vendors, to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

  • Partner with payroll vendor to work with federal and state agencies to set up new client payroll accounts  

  • Load agency notices into payroll tool and work with agencies or payroll provider to resolve  

  • Assist with navigating payroll garnishments and levy notices 

  • Assist with researching tax regulations affecting employee compensation, fringe benefits, and payments to non-residents  

  • Produce payroll reports using Workday and ADP Smart Compliance. 

  • W2 and W2c management  

  • Assemble all necessary government documents with regards to taxes and providing explanations to pressing tax issues and queries

  • Work as a specialist on payroll subject matter and as a resource to other personnel in the aspect of processing payroll  

  • Evaluate yearly tax questionnaires from customers; connect with clients, trust administrators, tax authorities and advocates, to manage the suitable information for customers 

  • Conduct research and evaluating or settling complicated technical issues or queries forwarded by colleagues, department personnel and external company representatives

  • Give authorization to and evaluate or input payroll operations and associated data.

  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.

  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5-7 years experience processing a multi-state payroll department

  • Knowledge of Workday Payroll.

  • Proficient at Google applications including Sheets and Docs and Microsoft Excel.

  • Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state, and local levels.

  • Must be a collaborator.

  • Must be highly organized.

  • Prior system conversion experience, a plus.

  • US work authorization.
