JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COORDINATOR

CLASSIFICATION CODE: GRANT FUNDED

DEPARTMENT: PREVENTION

REPORTS TO: PREVENTION PROGRAM DIRECTOR

 

STATEMENT OF JOB: The Apache Behavioral Health Services Prevention Program welcomes your interest in the Domestic Violence Coordinator position. This position monitors contracts and compliance of the grant and provides training, technical assistance and develops compliance plans in collaboration with the grants department. The position also includes developing, collecting monthly and quarterly data. This position also develops annual marketing plans which includes but is not limited to establishing a Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign, fostering, and strengthening the tribal domestic violence coalition, assisting in seeking and maintaining DV coalition, crafting press releases, and sending out monthly alerts/newsletters to stakeholders. Development of a referral system for intensive case management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides accurate documentation of all services provided including education and outreach efforts and takes responsibility to report these as required on a monthly and quarterly basis to the ABHS grant/data coordinator.
  2. Coordinate and work collaboratively with partnering organizations and community service providers.
  3. Facilitate trauma informed trainings.
  4. Lead support groups for domestic and sexual violence survivors.
  5. Coordinates coverage of services for clients including counseling and case management advocacy with community partners.
  6. Builds and improves community relationships with partner agencies including but not limited to: WMAT Court, Tribal Social Services, Legal Aid, Tribal Police Department.
  7. Provides crisis intervention and short-term counseling to primary and secondary victims of domestic violence in person and/or by phone.
  8. Assists in related training/community events and speaking engagements to meet the needs of the program.
  9. Accompany survivors to court, meetings with legal aids, social workers, law enforcement or any other organization or person requested by survivor.
  10. Develop a campaign to raise awareness of domestic violence for staff, students, and the community.
  11. Serve as main point of contact for the community on all programming related to domestic violence.
  12. Provide monthly newsletters for stakeholders.
  13. Documents contact with clients to assess needs, maintain required paperwork, and engage family members. Complete comprehensive assessments and assessment updates in accordance with Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and ABHS Standards. Complete and update client treatment plans as needed
  14. Verify and print Medifax confirmation information for intake process as needed.
  15. Complete data entry in electronic health record and record all intake information for new clients.
  16. Ability to address a variety of diverse spiritual, emotional, and social needs in multiple environments of an often-high-risk population, using a trauma-informed care approach while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and cultural awareness.
  17. Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, and program standards of ABHS, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Indian Health Services, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and other pertinent regulatory authorities.
  18. Maintain ethical policies and guidelines as outlined in accepted State ethics laws, rules, policies, and principles and as outlined in discipline-specific code of ethics.
  19. Provide a positive role model to clients and staff through leadership, self-discipline, and genuine care for the treatment and recovery of clients. All clients and staff members must be treated with dignity and respect.
  20. Participation in all required ABHS training.
  21. Reports/attends work in a timely manner. Must be reliable and communicate directly with supervisor in all matters of attendance.
  22. Meet weekly with Director of Prevention to discuss budget, programming, and other aspects of the domestic violence project.
  23. Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possession of a high school diploma with minimum of four years’ work-related experience in mental health field engaged in case management, mental health, developmental disabilities, aftercare, substance abuse or related areas; Masters, AA/Bachelor’s degree in mental health/human services or related field preferred. Experience working with Native Americans preferred.
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to speak the Apache language preferred.
  3. Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently, with flexibility within prescribed deadlines.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors.
  5. Must have a working knowledge of the needs, strengths, and services in the tribal community.
  6. MS Office proficiency and the ability to correctly operate a copier and fax machine.
  7. Valid Arizona Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  8. Ability to pass all pre-employment testing, including, but not limited to, fingerprint clearance and background check.

 

Preferred:

  1. At least 1 year experience working with Native Americans.
  2. Experience providing crisis intervention, assessing/treating co-occurring disorders and/or referral services coordination preferred.
