Weston is seeking an Environmental Scientist or Geologist for our HTRW program.  They execute and manages tasks for projects within the scope, budget, schedule, and the quality exceptions established. They lead the planning and development of all tasks for assigned projects.  They also support management of staff in completing technical research, investigation plans, report preparation and quality assurance. 

Locations: Denver, Colorado and Eastern Slope Vicinity

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or other related natural sciences, or closely related field with a minimum 6-8 years related experience.
  • Professional licensure preferred (i.e., P.E., P.G., etc.)
  • Provides supervision for technical tasks and assignments for engineers, geologist, scientist, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Documented experience with Colorado oil and gas industry and State environmental programs preferred.
  • Able to analyze, interpret and record field documentation and data electronically.
  • Working knowledge of the procedures necessary to execute a sound and efficient project, with the goal of developing good project management techniques.
  • Able to meet time sensitive deadlines and carry out multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience with tracking budgets
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license and ability to travel
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to prepare and review reports, proposals, and cost estimates.
  • Able to work effectively in group setting and direct staff on investigative tasks.
  • Familiarity with calibrating field screening instruments (PID, FID, multi-gas meters).
  • Safety focused with an understanding of the hazards in the oil field.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Certified Asbestos Building Inspector license current.
  • Colorado Safeland Training
  • 40 Hr HAZWOPER, CPR, First Aid, Blood Born Pathogens, H2S.
  • Excavation safety training
  • Six or more years’ experience with oil and gas
  • Site investigation and remediation experience
  • Active member of professional organization suited to specific practice area is a plus

Expected Outcomes:

  • Management of oil and gas projects including remedial investigations, feasibility studies, proposed plans, record of decisions, remedial designs, remedial actions, operations and maintenance, and long-term monitoring of environmental remediation projects.
  • Collaborates with GIS and CAD technicians, field technicians, designers, and other team personnel to complete projects efficiently and accurately
  • Assists the Project Manager in estimating and tracking project costs, staffing projects, and leading the project team
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Prepare and issue contractor-supplier scopes of work and obtain quotes, review contractor submittals, and support field teams.
  • Leads proposal preparation efforts and development of project costs
  • Participates in professional societies and other similar organizations
  • Interacts with clients regarding project specific tasks
  • Conduct field work as required
  • Local travel estimate of 60-70%

Salary Range: $48,000 - $64,100 - $80,000
