Brief Description:

The Research Manager, Analytics & Insights is responsible for managing the development and execution of custom research plans for various clients at Wavemaker.  This role is about bringing together data, creativity and multiple methods to help our clients make better choices rooted in human insights. The successful candidate will have superior analytical skills and attention to detail, but must also be able to solve business issues using data, creativity, and human insight. All our people, processes and technology are united through our focus on understanding, accelerating and optimizing purchase journeys; making them more satisfying for consumers and more effective for our clients.

Key Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Develop and lead custom research projects to answer client business challenges
  • Work directly with vendors to bring creative solutions and best options to WM
  • Be a trusted point of contact for industry organizations, committees and research vendors
  • Work closely with the A&I team to support various teams with research and insights (including custom research solutions)
  • Understand how to use the day-to-day tools, know when they are best applied to our clients’ businesses, and conduct training sessions with staff
  • Generate audience, competitive, and category insight reports from large sets of data; display in an actionable and informative matter for the intended audience
  • Supporting the New Business team by utilizing various tools and resources
  • Encourage critical thinking among client groups and within the team
  • Independently gather and disseminate relevant information, data and articles of interest across the agency as appropriate.
  • Present to groups, both small and large

What You Will Need:

  • Minimum 3 years as a Research Manager
  • University or College degree/diploma in Media, Marketing, Research, or related field and/or relevant years of experience
  • Familiar with syndicated media databases (i.e. Vividata, Numeris, comScore, Infosys+)
  • Strong understanding of media planning terminology and principles


  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Solid presentation and training skills, with experience presenting to senior leaders
  • Advanced knowledge of primary / custom research methodologies
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, flexible and can adjust deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills
  • An insatiable curiosity for problem solving
  • Strong interest in uncovering the “whys” behind questions; demonstrates creativity and critical thinking in problem solving with the ability to distil the real question being asked
  • A reasonable comfort level working with numbers and data; research methodology coursework an asset but not a requirement
  • Team player who can step in and help drive strategy against a landscape that is in constant change
