Essential Job Responsibilities

 

Achieving Results Key Components: assess, plan, evaluate, demonstrate initiative, quality of work, productivity

1.      Designs, develops, conducts and documents training of engineers and utility workers in the operation and repair of equipment and systems.

2.      Diagnoses malfunctions on a variety of equipment and systems

3.      Assists with evaluation of new equipment for purchase, and the development of equipment standards.

Demonstrates Skill Key Components: competency, job knowledge, organizational skills, analytical skill, management of information, employee & patient safety

1.     Works with contractors and monitors their activities on a variety of projects, remodels, equipment or system replacement or retrofit.

2.      Supervises engineering staff or contractors in the dismantling, repair, and reassemble of equipment and systems.

3.      Completes performance appraisals of the Engineers supervised.

4.      Administers preventive maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of entire physical plant.

5.      Coordinates installation of new equipment.

6.      Assists in fire, safety and disaster programs including drills and instruction.

7.      Requisitions supplies, replacement parts and equipment as needed.

8.      Remain qualified to function as a Watch Engineer by standing five (5) shifts as a Watch Engineer annually.

9.      Assist in coordinating Group Energy Curtailment Program.

10.  Maintains inventory and proper operating of all assigned tools.

11.  Observes universal precautions.

12.  Performs other related duties as required.

Coordinating

1.     Supervises the work performed by engineers and utility workers. Includes delegation of all or part of the duties listed below as the supervisor deems appropriate.

2.      Responds to calls for emergency repairs and assigns appropriate staff to repair equipment or restore service to affected areas. Documents action taken and reports to Facilities Services Manager.

3.      Develops and maintains a sufficient inventory level to complete preventive maintenance work orders without purchasing for 6 months.

hospital policies and procedures.

4.      Ensures compliance of all safety and building regulations which pertain to Engineering and Facilities.

5.      Maintain all logs and records as required by J.C.A.H.O., O.S.H.P.D.,

the City of Fremont and Washington Hospital which pertain to Engineering/Facilities Maintenance.

6. Demonstrates awareness of, and compliance with, patient safety and

regulatory and licensing standards; i.e., JCAHO, Title 22 OSHA, EMTALA, HIPAA, and other service specific regulations.
