The Role
The Company
Torex Gold is an intermediate gold producer based in Canada, engaged in the exploration, development, and operation of its 100% owned Morelos Property, an area of 29,000 hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometres southwest of Mexico City.
The Company's principal asset is the Morelos Complex, which includes the El Limón Guajes ("ELG") Mine Complex, the Media Luna Mine, the EPO Project, a processing plant, and related infrastructure. Production from the Morelos Complex commenced in 2016, and an updated Technical Report for the Morelos Complex was released in March 2022.
Torex's key strategic objectives are: Deliver Media Luna to full production and build EPO; optimize Morelos production and costs; grow reserves and resources; disciplined growth and capital allocation; retain and attract best industry talent; and industry leader in responsible mining.

What We're Looking for:
- Education:
- University degree in Engineering, preferably civil engineering.
- Experience:
- 10 minimum years in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial position within the same industry.
- Proven experience in leading mining projects, including underground and surface operations.
- Skills:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong technical knowledge in mining engineering principles, practices, and technologies.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- The ability to travel internationally. (25%)
- Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred
Key Accountabilities
Project Engineering Planning and Execution
- Manage engineering teams, including engineering service providers, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Partner with the Project Services Manager to engage required engineering service providers.
- Develop project engineering plans for studies and execution.
- Oversee the execution of engineering activities remotely during studies and on-site during detailed engineering and execution.
- Provide technical support and guidance during project execution, resolving any design or implementation issues that arise.
- Monitor engineering service providers in the delivery of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to maintain high engineering standards.
- Coordinates closely with the Procurement team to ensure timely definition of purchase orders and contractor scope requirements.
- Ensures effectiveness of engineering design to optimize project results.
Quality and Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations during project execution.
- Implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate engineering-related risks.
- Actively involve safety and operational leaders from the organization to review different aspects of the engineering work and ensure operability and safety improvements are captured.
Stakeholder Coordination and Communication
- Act as the technical liaison with contractors and other internal project stakeholders.
- Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and progress updates to project stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among engineering providers to ensure alignment with project goals.
Resource Management and Team Leadership
- Drive the engineering work with a clear strategy that must be aligned with the overall project objectives. This is a key point that needs to be developed in collaboration with the Director of Project Development.
- Allocate and prioritize resources to meet project milestones and objectives.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and technologies to enhance project performance.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in mining engineering and incorporate innovative solutions into project execution.
- Promote a culture of innovation and problem-solving within the engineering team.
