The Role

We are looking for a Senior Analyst, Corporate Development,  to join our team, reporting to the SVP, Corporate Development & Investor Relations. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our company’s long-term growth by identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A opportunities. The Company

Torex Gold Torex is an intermediate gold producer based in Canada, engaged in the exploration, development, and operation of its 100% owned Morelos Property, an area of 29,000 hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometres southwest of Mexico City.
The Company's principal asset is the Morelos Complex, which includes the El Limón Guajes ("ELG") Mine Complex, the Media Luna Mine, the EPO Project, a processing plant, and related infrastructure. Production from the Morelos Complex commenced in 2016, and an updated Technical Report for the Morelos Complex was released in March 2022.

What We’re Looking For:

Education:

  • University degree in Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • CFA is an asset

Experience:

  • 5+ years in mining-related finance roles, corporate development, investment banking, or equity research.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in mining and/or mining-related finance 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and data analysis.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple due diligence processes and coordinate cross-functional teams efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports and presentations for executives and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to mine data within databases such as Cap IQ and S&L Mining Database.

Key Accountabilities

Identify Potential Acquisition Opportunities

  • Maintain and update internal portfolios of exploration, development, and production assets.
  • Develop and enhance screening tools to evaluate acquisition opportunities.
  • Proactively identify and assess M&A targets through internal analysis and industry relationships.

 

Desktop Analysis

  • Build and maintain financial models to assess potential M&A targets.
  • Conduct preliminary due diligence to identify key risks and opportunities.
  • Develop presentations on asset value, shareholder structure, and pro forma merger analysis.

 

Detailed Due Diligence

  • Manage data rooms, coordinate stakeholders, and support negotiations.
  • Assist in executing confidentiality agreements and due diligence schedules.
  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, ESG, and Technical Services teams to support transactions.

 

Corporate Development Leadership

  • Build relationships with industry experts, investment bankers, and corporate leaders.
  • Participate in conferences, investor meetings, and networking events.

 

Maintain Corporate Data Room

  • Ensure corporate data is accurate, organized, and accessible for stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data management processes and tools.

 

Executing on Transactions – Negotiating and Executing

  • Support transaction execution, ensuring timely and accurate completion of key deliverables.
  • Assist in coordinating various aspects of the transaction process, from initial negotiations to closing documentation.

 

Marketing Opportunities to Executives and Board

  • Develop and refine communication materials to present acquisition opportunities to the Executive Team and Board.
  • Assist in preparing board-level presentations, ensuring clear articulation of strategic rationale and financial implications.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure that proposed transactions align with corporate strategy.

 

      In addition to structured responsibilities, the role involves handling ad hoc assignments based on evolving corporate priorities, requiring adaptability and responsiveness.
