Temporary/Seasonal Cafeteria Assistant- Prep & Assist
The Institutes is seeking an energetic candidate to join our team as a temporary seasonal Cafeteria Assistant for the 9:00AM-2:00PM shift Monday-Friday. The Cafeteria Assistant is responsible for assisting the Chef/Manager in carrying out the duties associated with the cafeteria function. We are looking for someone who is a fast learner with great interpersonal and strong customer service skills. Knowledge of food service industry is helpful, but not required. What You’ll Be Doing:
Responsible for maintaining Dining Room supplies; responsible for the entire dish room function, responsible for maintaining supplies on serving line at coffee station and ticket counter; in the absence of the Assistant Chef, the cafeteria assistant is responsible for assisting in completing responsibilities of the Assistant Chef.
Assists in preparation of food for lunch as directed by Chef/Manager and prepares desserts in cooperation with the Assistant Chef. Plan, develop and execute dessert selections, preparing from scratch whenever feasible.
Responsible to fill in on either sandwich area or salad bar as needed, preparing foods in sufficient quantities.
Plan and execute the beverages to be used in addition to canned soda.
Assists in the cleaning of kitchen equipment as directed by Chef/Manager.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or higher
Customer Service experience
Food Service Experience
Special Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Standing on feet all day
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
