General Accountability

Reporting to the Group Controller, the Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for maintenance of internal control environment, certain day-to-day accounting, account reconciliations, treasury support, overall support on the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Assisting in developing and implementing accounting policies across the organization for the mine site controllers and head office to implement and monitor compliance
  • Support monitoring that commercial, financial, and procurement processes are aligned with internal controls, risk management, and delegation of authority and purchasing policies
  • Supporting maintenance of an effective system of internal controls, ensuring alignment with corporate policy directives
  • Working closely with the company’s internal audit advisors, supporting the:
    • Maintenance of SOX (ICFR) internal documentation (risk & control matrix, narratives, process flows, etc.)
    • Identification of new/unmitigated risks and development of appropriate mitigating controls
    • Coordinating with internal and external audit service providers regarding the annual SOX (ICFR) testing plan and process
  • Ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of entries in the general ledger (including payables, cheques, journal entries and bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations)
  • Assisting with the:
    • month end/quarter end consolidated financial statements for Taseko entities
    • preparation of regulatory filings including group financial statements, MD&A, annual reports, etc.
    • account analysis and reporting, including budget to actual variance investigations
    • review of accounts payable, accruals, and settlement status (EFTs, wires, and cheques)
    • preparation of bank and wire transfers, filing tax remittances
    • special projects and other duties as assigned by the Group Controller

 

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate finance related field
  • CPA (or equivalent) designation
  • 4 to 6 years public accounting experience (Big 4 experience a significant asset), including experience over SOX (ICFR) audit procedures (planning, testing, concluding)
  • Exposure to mining or industrial related industries or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is an advantage
  • Experience using SAGE 300, 4Site or any other accounting software is an advantage
