The VP, Growth Strategy leads the end-to-end process of developing compelling, strategic, and high-quality proposals that win new business. This role partners closely with senior leadership and SMEs from each cross-functional team to ensure proposals are strategically aligned with client needs, organizational capabilities, and brand standards. The ideal candidate is a strong strategy builder, storyteller, and collaborator who can balance identifying the strategic vision with meticulous attention to detail and underlying project management skills to help keep all workstreams on track. While this position is seated within New Business, this individual will partner with the Client Services leadership team to analyze existing client business for strategic organic growth opportunities. In short, this position will act as a growth catalyst for both New Business and expansion with existing clients.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as captain of the full proposal lifecycle—from RFP review and strategy development to content creation, submission, and post-proposal debrief in partnership with the proposals team Supports Client Services leadership with identifying and pursuing Organic Growth endeavors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input and ensure alignment on strategy and proposal development.
- Develop proposal strategies and pull through positioning that differentiates the company from competitors and reflects client priorities.
- Ensure that all submissions are delivered on time, error-free, and in alignment with brand and messaging standards.
- Oversee the development of new business proposal submissions, including proposal decks and RFI/RFP responses, in partnership with the proposals team.
- Implement quality control processes to ensure consistency in tone, messaging, and visual presentation across all new business materials, in partnership with the proposals team.
- Facilitate proposal kick-off and review meetings, ensuring clarity on roles, timelines, and deliverables, in partnership with the proposals team.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business development, leadership, and cross-functional teams during the proposal process.
- Support senior leadership in client presentations, pitch meetings, and proposal follow-up activities.
- Analyze proposal performance metrics and win/loss data to inform future strategies and improve outcomes, in partnership with the sales operations lead.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the professional development of the broader business development team.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in clinical trial recruitment agencies; pharmaceutical or healthcare marketing, advertising or communications agency experience also welcome, though experience working with clinical buyers is preferred
- Demonstrated success in business development or growth leadership, with a focus on strategic, consultative selling
- Proven ability to build relationships at senior client levels and convert new opportunities into long-term engagements
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to partner across leadership, SMEs, and growth operations to deliver seamless pursuits
- Superb project and time management skills with the ability to operate in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment comfortably and effectively
- Ability to establish productive working relationships and champion collaboration and discussion
- Forward-thinker – proactive, understands what will be needed and how to effectively drive against it
- Detail-oriented, review and ensure accuracy of outputs, data, and storylines
he anticipated salary range for this position will be $140,000-$185,000. Salary is based on job-related factors such as: years of relevant experience, qualifications and/or certifications. Spectrum reserves the right to modify this pay range at any given time.
