The Syndicate Accountant is responsible for maintenance of the syndicate reporting ledger and for liaising with the Financial Reporting Manager and the Financial Reporting Accountant to complete internal and external regulatory reporting for the Lloyd’s syndicate and the Managing Agency.

The role requires significant and proactive interaction with financial reporting colleagues to ensure that the reporting deliverables are met within the set deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the production of the syndicate reporting TB and guide the work of the Financial Reporting and Planning analyst to achieve this end.
  • Oversee the production of monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
  • Take a lead in the production of the Primary financial statements (Balance sheet and P & L) of the syndicate and populate regulatory returns accordingly.
  • Take a lead in the accounting for the syndicate’s investments and the continuing development of the investment accounting function.
  • Contribute to the development of the systems for UK syndicate reporting
  • Assist the Financial Reporting Manager with the creation and maintenance of Financial Reporting process documentation
  • Liaise with SiriusPoint departments, clients and external parties (e.g. auditors) on aspects of the syndicate financial information as necessary
  • Administer banking mandates and signatories for the Syndicate, Managing Agency, and the Corporate Member.
  • Attend workshops relating to syndicate reporting as appropriate.
  • Ad hoc finance projects and reporting
  • To perform all duties in line with the FCA Individual Conduct Rules as documented in the Employee Handbook
  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

 

Key Skills & Experience:

To succeed in this role, you should bring a blend of technical expertise, practical experience, and strong communication skills:

• Experience: At least 3-5 years in a syndicate reporting or finance role within the insurance industry, with a solid understanding of Lloyd's accounting and reporting rules.

• Accounting Qualification: A qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Lloyd's reporting requirements, UK/US GAAP, Solvency II, and the Companies Act.

• Advanced Excel & Reporting: Proficiency in advanced Excel and experience in advanced report writing, with the ability to develop and use analytical tools.

• Software Knowledge: Familiarity with Lloyd's accounting and reporting software (desirable).

• Problem-Solving & Initiative: A self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude, able to solve problems independently and take on new responsibilities.

• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels within the organisation.
