What will you do in this role?

The position of HR Process & Compliance Specialist will be responsible for supporting a compliant, efficient and well-governed HR function by managing key regulatory activities, maintaining policies and SOPs, and ensuring accuracy across HR workflows. The HR Process & Compliance Specialist partners with HR teams to improve processes, support HR audit activities, monitor employment law changes, and assist with HR components of mergers and acquisitions. The position helps ensure HR Operations are consistent, scalable, and aligned with organizational standards.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  

HR Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws (FLSA, ADA, EEO, pay transparency, immigration).
  • Manage employee handbook content and updates.
  • Perform and address issues from compliance audits (I-9/E-Verify, Non-Discrimination Plans, EEO-1, benefits, HR Technology).
  • In conjunction with the Compensation Specialist assists with job classification and pay equity reviews.
  • Prepare reports and handle regulatory audits or inquiries.
  • Provide HR compliance training on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain compliance KPIs and records.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and suggest policy revisions.
  • Carry out audits of subcontractors to ensure there are no cases of dual employment.

HR Processes

  • Document, map, and actively enhance HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, benefits, and HCM transactions.
  • Create and update comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all HR functions.
  • Periodically review HR workflows and data accuracy, offering recommendations for improvements.
  • Monitor and share process performance indicators like cycle times, error rates, and service levels.
  • Partner with teams handling HR Systems/Technology, payroll, and benefits to guarantee smooth process integration.
  • Assist with system upgrades and lead efforts to automate HR processes where possible.
  • Provide training on newly implemented or revised SOPs and processes to HR team members and managers.
  • Act as a go-to contact for questions or troubleshooting related to HR processes.

 

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support

  • Serve as the primary tactical support to the Manager of HR Operations & Process for HR-related M&A activities, executing day-to-day integration tasks and deliverables.
  • Assist with pre-close HR due diligence by gathering, reviewing, and organizing employee data, policies, benefit plans, , and compliance documentation.
  • Support the analysis of acquired entities’ HR practices, identifying gaps, risks, and integration requirements related to compliance, classification, payroll, benefits, and HR systems/technology.
  • Coordinate and partner with other HR teams to execute HR onboarding and transition activities for acquired employees, including employee data conversion, system setup, policy acknowledgements, and benefits enrollment support.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed integration checklists, timelines, and trackers to ensure HR tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Work with the Integration Team to draft and distribute employee-facing communications related to HR process changes, onboarding steps, and compliance requirements during integration periods.
  • Partner with HR Systems/Technology, payroll, benefits, and compliance teams to ensure accurate data migration, system alignment, and timely issue resolution.
  • Support post-close audits and validation activities to confirm compliance with employment laws, benefit plan requirements, and internal HR standards.
  • Document M&A-related HR processes and develop SOPs to support consistent execution across future acquisitions.
  • Escalate risks, issues, or delays to the Manager of HR Operations & Process with clear recommendations and supporting analysis.

 

Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of prior experience in HR operations, compliance, or process optimization is necessary.
  • Prior experience with Mergers and Acquisition, preferred.
  • HR certification (I.e. SHRM-CP, PHR), as plus 
  • Professional services experience is highly preferred.
  • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Experienced in conducting compliance audits and formulating corrective action plans.
  • Demonstrates expertise in policy development and governance.
  • Proficient at evaluating data concerning compliance and pay equity reviews.
  • Maintains a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Displays advanced communication skills and effectiveness in delivering training sessions.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities within client-focused, deadline-driven environments.
  • Highly skilled at documenting and mapping processes with outstanding precision and clarity.
  • Experienced in reviewing data for integrity and evaluating process-related performance metrics.
  • Knowledgeable in project and change management methodologies.
  • Committed to meticulous attention to detail and continuous improvement.
  • Communicates and facilitates meetings with professionalism and clarity.
  • Excels in collaborative work within fast-paced, deadline-sensitive settings.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the midpoint of the salary range for this role is $68,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
