Responsibilities 
  
Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking to add a Manager of Application Operations to the team. The successful candidate for this role will serve as a hands-on manager on our Applications Operations team, responsible for the applications used by our Freight Brokerage, and will provide leadership to a team of Application Systems Administrators responsible for the implementation and maintenance of these critical business applications. This role will be a working manager role where the hired candidate is expected to provide technical solutions as well as people management.
 
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to our Application Systems Administrators, keeping them aligned with business objectives and needs
  • Technical guidance and management of freight technologies
  • Mentor team members to grow their capabilities
  • Partner with business leaders to understand their needs and technology struggles as they pertain to applications managed by this team
  • Recommend priorities and work with leadership across technology and business to develop application roadmaps
  • Set and maintain a culture of continuous improvement for our application stacks
  • Evaluate application requirements and provide architectural guidance to team members
  • Collaborate closely with adjacent IT teams that provide services for the team and/or utilize application components
  • Perform hiring and employee evaluation duties
  • Assist with staffing needs decisions such as determining headcount and skillsets to optimally provide quality service based on business needs
  • Leads project breakdowns and provides accurate level of effort and delivery time estimates
  • Oversee that change is being conducted in a manner that protects business from being interrupted by the change
  • Ensures that both operational and project work is being executed in a best-practice and appropriately prioritized manner
Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related experience
  • 3+ years proven success in an operations management role
  • 5+ years experience in IT Operations
  • Experience working with McLeod PowerBroker or equivalent TMS experience
  • Must possess a passion for technology and proven experience leading, mentoring, and managing technical employees
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Senior level architecture and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Demonstrated experience driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Deep understanding of system administration and IT Agile best practices
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with proven ability to articulate to non-IT staff
