Position Summary
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company’s policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. She/he will supervise a team of Journeymen Electricians and Quality Inspectors over seeing production lines. She/he maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel in order to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements. He/she reports to the Quality Manager.
Role Responsibilities
Supervise and direct quality inspectors who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies in order to meet product quality standards.
· Train new hires, evaluate employee performance, and coach staff on defect standards and proper measurement techniques.
· Conduct regular floor audits, track critical control points, and verify compliance with standards like ISO and work instructions
· Coordinate containment actions when defects occur, lead root-cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
· Record inspection metrics, track scrap and rework rates, and present performance reports to upper management.
· Review Production Records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.
· Audit quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.
· Assist in the coordination of testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components and the appropriate release and hold programs associated with these materials.
· Oversee the “Red Tag” system.
· Assist in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.
· Make proactive recommendations and offering/presenting solutions to the Quality Management System to improve quality and work efficiency.
· Share knowledge, skills and information with other personnel in the Quality department and across functional areas.
· Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support in order to meet product quality standards.
· Understand the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and support it’s maintenance.
· Participate in all third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action responses.
· Ensure good performance by quality inspectors by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.
· Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses on the business objectives and balances quality of work-life factors for employees.
· Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and trainings.
· Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
- Education and Training: Strong electrical knowledge in commercial/industrial and supervisory experience required. Journeyman or Master Electrician licensure/certification is a plus. Relevant education, technical or trade training, professional licensure/certification, and/or equivalent work experience will be considered. Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma and ISO 9001 background a plus.
- Proven experience in manufacturing and working within a quality system.
- In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of manufacturing and engineering.
- Good working knowledge of quality control standards and compliance.
- Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
- Time management Skill: able to properly manage their time to meet production and delivery deadlines.
- Problem-solving Skill: They are proffer solutions to defects or limitations in production
- Occasional travel within Colorado and out of state.
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees within RKMC (not sure how to word this one)
Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability
- Work predominately inside and in dusty and noisy areas.
- Work in high places, tight places, and confined spaces.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift, move and/or carry up to 40lbs occasionally.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in conditions that include heat and cold.
- Noise levels can fluctuate from quiet to loud.
- Hazards associated with the industry.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected
- RKMC employees and subcontractors are required to implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirement of RK Mission Critical, LLC
