Description
This is NOT a remote work position. Position is based in Lufkin, TX (Relocation provided if needed)
The Instructional Designer supports the Learning & Development team by designing and building learning instructional assets for a blended learning environment that includes classroom, live-online (webinar), eLearning, video, audio, study guides, gamification, and related methods. The Instructional Designer will be highly collaborative with Learning & Development managers to identify the scope and design-related instructional assets by program for digital, web, and print consumption, and will communicate with various subject matter experts during the development process.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, design, develop, manage and implement new instructional assets (ILT, VILT, micro-learning, job aids, slide decks, tutorials, digital interactives, user guides, audio and video content, scripts, story boards, assessments, etc.) as assigned
- Collaborate with project leaders and subject matter experts to design solutions that achieve defined outcomes with a focus on behavior change not simply delivering learning
- Collaborate with SMEs to design and development training materials (learning activities, presentations, quick reference tools, facilitator and participant guides, etc.) on a variety of topics
- Participate in all Learning & Development program/project design meetings, providing insight, feedback, and updates on content development
- Evaluate the effectiveness of materials and provide recommendations
- Complete tasks related to the Learning Management System (LMS), as assigned
- Catalog and maintain courses, course material, audio, and video in an organized and methodical fashion
- Manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities
- Create and implement regular content updates
- Demonstrated creativity and ability to design aesthetically engaging and effective materials
- Ability to lead with influence and build strong relationship with peers and leadership
- Advanced organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
- Create, manage, and design content for monthly University of Pilgrim’s Newsletter
- Manage content and communication of University of Pilgrim’s social media sites
- Other duties as assigned by the Instructional Design Manager
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Proven competency in Instructional Design with expertise in the development of instructor led training (ILT), VILT, etc.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Articulate 360, Canva, and other authoring tools
- Skills in teambuilding, relationship building, facilitation and presentation
- Ability to operate comfortably in an ambiguous and uncertain environment without right answers or obvious solutions.
- Ability to proactively recommend innovative and experimental approaches to delivering learning experiences.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in Instructional Design with instructional technology (Canva, Articulate 360, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
- At least 2 years’ experience in instructional design methodology (ADDIE/SAM/AGILE)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Human Resource Development, or related field.
- 2+ years experience in designing and developing a variety of learning solutions (web-based training & virtual instructor-led; video, gamification, podcast, infographics)
- At least 2 years’ experience using virtual training platforms (Microsoft Teams & Webex Training preferred)
- Experience working with Litmos LMS is preferred
- Experience working in Canva is preferred
