The Platform Solutions Engineering team is looking for a seasoned Cloud Native Solutions Architect to lead the development of our cloud native solutions. The ideal candidate will be an expert in data center architectures and cloud native technologies. A successful candidate will be a visionary who is adept at executing on their vision by developing robust reference architectures and validated designs that develop Hybrid Cloud solutions for running business critical applications at scale. You will be able to evangelize the benefits of adopting cloud native architectures as well as champion the best practices that lead to successful outcomes for our customers.

What You Will Do
As a key member of our architecture group, you will be responsible for developing the scope and strategy of our cloud native solution for both private cloud and hybrid cloud use cases. You will work with our product engineering teams and other solutions architects to develop best practices for Nutanix products as well as 3rd party partner products (i.e Openshift, Rancher, etc.) You will lead the validation effort, working with our test automation team in our state-of-the-art labs. You will be responsible for publishing Nutanix Validate Solutions that customers will implement with confidence. You will work with automation engineers to automate testing and provisioning of an end-to-end solution delivered to Nutanix customers.

  • Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customer base to learn how they build and migrate hybrid cloud solutions that run at scale using AWS, Azure, Openshift, and Nutanix Karbon.
  • Educate customers on the value proposition of hybrid cloud, Kubernetes, and cloud-native modalities and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for resilience at scale.
  • Act as a technical liaison between product engineering, marketing, customers, delivery teams and support to foster collaboration and communication about how our products need to integrate to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Partner with Professional Services and Sales leaders to promote cloud native concepts internally and influence how these organizations train delivery consultants and sales teams to be successful selling and delivering cloud native outcomes.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the hybrid cloud solutions architecture community.
  • Author or otherwise contribute to public cloud customer-facing publications such as whitepapers, reference architectures, and validated designs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience architecting, designing, and building microservices, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Deep knowledge of Openshift (other container orchestration tools also highly desirable)
  • Understanding of the core use cases for security, networking, resilience, observability, and multi-tenancy as they pertain to microservices architectures and service meshes.
  • Experience helping development teams build and deploy Kubernetes microservices based applications via both on premise private cloud environments as well as hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience modernizing applications and increasing developer productivity, application agility, and scalability.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and processes.
  • Be a self-starter with an in-depth hands-on work experience with large-scale implementations of AWS and/or Azure.
  • Knowledge of python, J2EE, .NET, and cloud technologies development languages and tools.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and end-user needs.
  • Excellent oral and written talents.
  • Excellent listening skills with a consultative attitude that builds trust and influence.
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, coaching, analysis, problem solving and short-term and long-term planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of overall work experience in IT
  • 5+ years architecting and designing solutions for private cloud and hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions including AWS and/or Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
  • 3+ years architecting, implementing, and supporting Kubernetes based solutions running on-prem or in the cloud.
  • Project experience migrating and deploying cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree(s) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience migrating applications from the enterprise to public cloud providers (e.g. Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification or Azure/GCP equivalent.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as a Service, Infrastructure as Code and related concepts on private and public clouds.
  • Proven experience as a successful senior engineer and/or cloud engineer highly desirable
  • Understanding of Agile, SCRUM and Continuous Delivery
  • Experience leading high-performing, results-driven teams with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to handle diverse situations, multiple initiatives, and rapidly changing priorities.
  • This is a global role. Candidate may live in a wide variety of regions across the Americas, Asia, and Europe, preferably near a major metropolitan area with access to an international airport.
  • International travel as required. While some amount of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice).
