About the role
The School seeks expressions of interest from experienced Academics interested in teaching on the Sydney or Fremantle campuses and who have a passion for teaching and having an impact upon the lives of students. Teaching opportunities are available on a sessional basis across a variety of programs. Sessional academics are a critical part of the teaching team in the School of Law and Business. You will be welcomed and provided an opportunity to participate in the life of the School.
We are looking for sessional with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Human Resource Management
- Public Relations
- Public administration
- Finance
- Accounting
- Marketing
- Management
- Governance risk management, ESG and Systems thinking
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct tutorials/lectures/workshops to the standard of the School, which includes preparing lesson plans for tutorials/lectures and facilitating informed group discussions to enhance student engagement.
- Translate real-world professional experience into student learning and teaching.
- Consult with students in relation to readings, weekly topics, and upcoming assessments.
- Assist with assessment administration, such as marking, entering results, and providing feedback to students as required.
- Attend meetings as required by the Course Coordinator
- Identify students at risk.
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
- Phd or DBA qualified or equivalent in a discipline outlined above.
- Industry/professional experience will be well regarded.
- Prior teaching experience at the tertiary level with sound understanding of pedagogical and/or adult learning principles.
- Experience translating industry practice into teaching Masters courses in the relevant discipline would be highly valued.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including supporting international students.
- Ability to deliver quality learning and teaching practices in multiple modes including online delivery.
- Demonstrated ability in developing resources/curriculum documents as well as criteria and standards-based assessment tasks.
- Ability to, or a willingness to learn how to, incorporate technology (e.g. Blackboard, zoom, email, internet) into teaching and learning.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to foster high levels of collegiality and ability to empathise with students.
- Proven ability to assess priority of tasks, manage workload and meet deadlines, in a busy environment.
