About the Internship       
nLIGHT is currently recruiting for a Finance student to intern with us for the summer of 2025. This internship is a 10 to 12-week program that offers challenging assignments, projects, and career development opportunities to enhance your professional growth. You will also earn a competitive wage based on your discipline and academic class status.         
   
About the Team     
The Finance Team supports a broad range of areas within finance such as Manufacturing Plant Financial Management, Operational Finance, Corporate FP&A, and Strategic Business Development. Between the projects listed below and direct access to the experienced leadership team, you will gain an understanding of financial strategy as it pertains to a publicly listed company.

What You Can Expect to Do         
  • Reporting Automation - This position will work on projects to help automate reporting and create dashboards, including:
    • Build reports using a variety of systems (Excel, forecasting system, PowerBI, and SQL Server)
    • Test new functionality and populate historical information in new models in our forecasting platform (Planful)
  • Financial Analyst Company Exposure - Manufacturing Operations / Business Unit Support / Corporate Finance
    • Update financial models to help inform/justify business decisions. This could include ‘cost to build’, ROI on development programs, acquisition modeling, and capital purchase justification support.
    • Forecasting, variance analysis, and providing other financial support.
Who You Are         
  • You bring an understanding of Financial Statements, financial performance metrics, and US GAAP.
  • Problem-solving skills and natural curiosity. Enjoys new challenges, investigating root cause of issues, streamlining work, identifying areas for improvement, and following through to drive related changes.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and ability to work in teams.
  • Strong computer information system skills/aptitude.
  • Microsoft Excel skills, including ability to work with large volumes of data and use of advanced formulas.
  • Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • Some experience using a visualization software (PowerBI, Tableau) is a plus.
Minimum Job Requirements         
  • You must be working toward a degree in Finance or Accounting
  • You must have completed (at a minimum) your sophomore year in college
  • You must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above to be considered
Intern Social Events          
This summer we are bringing on five to six interns and want to ensure the time is well spent on and off the clock. That said, our interns can expect adventures in the PNW, board game nights at local breweries/coffee shops, Happy Hour networking events with Senior Leadership, and much more!

Compensation and Benefits
Pay depends on level of education completed:   
  • $21 - $23
Benefits            
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits including Prescription and Orthodontia with employee-paid premiums as low as $40.00 per pay period
