The Role at a Glance

NBBJ is looking for a Project BIM Leader / Coordinator based in Charlotte.

The successful candidate will be a strong technical contributor to project teams, grounded in Revit with real production and drawing delivery experience, particularly through Design Development and Construction Documentation. This role is suited to someone who has an understanding of architectural project delivery through the work phases, who thinks critically about how work gets done, and seeks ways for BIM technologies and associated workflows to continually improve the quality, efficiency and consistency of projects.

As well as being an active contributor to project modelling, data management and drawing production, this person will support the adoption of BIM best practices under the guidance of Digital BIM Leaders, explore workflow improvements, and take proactive ownership of project and/or client-specific standards and processes. Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities listed below are to be performed on assigned projects, under the guidance and support of Digital BIM Leaders.

Management

·         Deliver Digital Process Design, including Contract Review, Project Execution Planning and project kick off meetings

·         Lead and develop BIM Execution Plans in collaboration with design team stakeholders

·         Be a point of contact for design team stakeholders, ensuring all collaboration responsibilities, including information exchange, model alignment and design coordination activities are fulfilled

·         Collaborate with Client representatives, providing strong technical contributions that ensures project team compliance with project requirements and standards

·         Ensure team adoption of the agreed protocols set out in the BIM Execution Plan, including model setup, organisation, coordination, maintenance, standards and associated technologies

·         Oversee project setup, including models, infrastructure and content from digital libraries

·         Communicate and provide support to staff for technical workflow and/or technology queries, including modelling best practices and standards

·         Identify simple, practical workflow improvements that can improve project efficiency, model quality and delivery consistency

·         Lead and maintain the health and performance of assigned projects, addressing the model health audit and coordinating high priorities with the team

·         Support Project Managers in the management of tasks within the BIM environment, including the methodology for generating documentation, data and model-based outputs

·         Oversee BIM-related production partnering, including communication, quality checks and management of activities with team members

·         Support Digital BIM Leadership in identifying any training and education needs

·         Communicate any additional project needs to Digital BIM Leadership

·         Provide onboarding for new project team members Production

·         Be an active contributor on the project, including modelling, data management and drawing production

·         Support and contribute towards accurate Revit modelling, documentation production and data delivery to meet project requirements and Client standards

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of architecture, BIM coordination and/or architectural technology experience
  • Bachelor of Architecture, Building Information Modelling, Architectural Technologist or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture
  • Workflow knowledge in Autodesk cloud products; BIM360 / ACC / Forma
  • Proven Revit production experience, during Design Development and Construction Documentation phases
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative team environment
  • Proven experience in project coordination including collaboration with team members and external consultants, using industry-renowned software platforms
  • Ability to identify and communicate areas where skills, tools and processes could be improved
  • Passion for sharing knowledge and a demonstrated ability for clearly communicating complex technical ideas to designers, managers and clients
  • Interest in using BIM tools to improve delivery efficiency, with preferred exposure to Dynamo, Ideate or pyRevit
  • Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Licensure (Architect)
  • Master of Architecture, Building Information Modelling Management or equivalent
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit
  • Experience and passion for ‘Computational BIM’ through using Dynamo or other scripting and programming languages
  • Workflow knowledge in associated Autodesk products including: Navisworks, 3DS Max, AutoCAD etc.
  • Experience with Rhino and Grasshopper
