Direct Management of Application Engineers, and Quote Writers in their pre-sales support efforts by collaborating with colleagues, both domestic and international, to define and propose technical aspects of sales projects, proposals and orders. 

 
                    Advance and propel the sales process by utilizing corporate IT solutions to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of sales proposals; and manage the complete and orderly transition of a proposal to Order Processing.
 
Provide technical expertise to the sales team in support of closing new business opportunities as well as ensuring the technical implementation of new and additional services.
 
Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 25% of the time. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:
 
  1. Lead and manage the collaborative pre-sales effort and smooth transition of projects from Sales through Sales Administration.  Ensure efficiency and value added by managing work flow, allocating resources, assessing training needs, implementing appropriate procedures and guidelines, and establishing/maintaining a professional workplace environment.
 
  1. Responsible for the production of well documented, profitable, technically sound, commercially viable, customer oriented solutions; and the formal transfer of projects from pre-sales (Quote Writing) to post-sales (Order Processing).
 
  1. Fully understand and utilize SAP, Multivac quoting system, CRM tool, learning information system, RFQ database, and other corporate tools; and seek to continuously improve data quality, tangential processes and procedures, and the overall efficiency of the pre-sales process.
 
  1. Ensure the complete and proper hand-off of quotations for Order Processing, including all required information for passing orders to internal and external partners (domestic and international).  Manage a formal Order Card Review and Project Management transition process.
 
  1. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to facilitate a cohesive product offering and presentation to our customers.
 
  1. Visit parent company as required to build and maintain solid, credible relationships with other internal partners and foster an open, collaborative environment.
 
  1. Produce monthly reports showing quote activity, completion times, etc.
 
  1. Partner with direct reports to close knowledge/training gaps by preparing individual training plans.
 
  1. Provide technical support to sales team in their consulting and selling efforts with customers.
 
  1. Manages department budgets
 
  1. Assist with technical training of internal stakeholders. 
 
  1. Collaborate with internal and external parties to identify technical features and capabilities relative to Multivac products and services which will bring additional value to customers.
 
  1. Stay current with new applications in the USA and worldwide; and communicate new application to the sales team and other internal stakeholders.
 
  1. Attend and participate in trade shows, sales meetings and other company specified activities.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related technical field and at least seven years of related leadership experience;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
 
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
 
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, & PowerPoint; and CRM systems, SAP, database applications, order processing systems, and internet applications.   
 
Certificates and Licenses:
Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises a team.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include hiring and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; applying recognition and discipline as appropriate; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and  developing associates through coaching, counseling, and mentoring.  Ensures effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
