Director of Sales - Key Accounts
Description
Provide leadership and direction to Key Account Sales Team. In cooperation with other sales directors and sales administration team develop systems, processes, procedures and goal oriented business plans aligned with the company’s goals to facilitate a customer-focused sales group. Develop a hiring and training strategy and implement to ensure long-term customer satisfaction with a well-focused sales group.
Provide daily support to Multivac Key Account Sales Managers. Includes application identification, customer development and closing of all business opportunities and assuring the satisfaction of these customers in their region. Expected to work with and provide direction to both internal and external Marketing. Recommend adjustments to the organization, product changes, and/or services to meet the customer’s expectations.
Extensive (possibly in excess of 50%) travel can be expected. Travel will be both domestically to visit customers, supplier partners, attend trade shows and participate in seminars; and internationally to perform periodic liaison duties with European factories and attend global trade shows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages sales/marketing operating budgets, directing sales forecasting activities and setting performance goals accordingly
- Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share, achieving satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share.
- Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets
- Monitors and reports on competitor products, sales and marketing activities
- Participates in the planning and execution of industry related trade shows
- Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop, implement and follow up on sales and marketing programs
- Travel to plants and major corporations on a regular and as-needed basis, representing company at trade association meetings to promote products and organization
- Meets with key clients, assisting Key Account Managers with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals
- Manages and directs staff including recruitment, selection and development to achieve company goals and objectives
- Develop plans for bundling sales, service, parts, training and systems to enhance business growth
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business preferred with a minimum of five years’ industry related experience with progressive managerial responsibilities and including experience working with multi-plant corporations and corporate headquarters.
- Working knowledge of German or Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Working knowledge of CRM applications required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel.
