Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the safe and efficient disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and preparation of industrial packaging equipment and components within the refurbishing process. The Disassembly Technician supports machine refurbishment and component recovery operations by dismantling equipment, identifying reusable parts, separating scrap materials, and preparing machines and assemblies for further refurbishment or recycling activities.

Time Utilization:
Normal business hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm. Schedule flexibility may be required to meet internal and external customer needs, including occasional overtime. Nominal travel may be involved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1.    Disassemble machines, assemblies, and components according to established procedures. 

2.    Remove components in a manner that preserves reusable parts and minimizes damage to equipment intended for refurbishment.  

3.    Evaluate components during disassembly and identify parts that may be suitable for reuse, repair, refurbishment, or recycling. 

4.    Clean machines, assemblies, and parts using approved methods, tools, and cleaning equipment. 

5.    Prepare equipment and components for inspection, refurbishment, assembly, or other downstream operations. 

6.    Perform visual inspections to identify wear, damage, corrosion, missing parts, and other conditions affecting refurbishability. 

7.    Document and communicate machine, assembly, and component conditions to production personnel and supervisors. 

8.    Operate hand tools, power tools, lifting devices, forklifts, hoists, and other shop equipment as authorized. 

9.    Move machines, assemblies, and components safely throughout the facility.  

10.    Assist warehouse personnel with receiving, moving, and shipping machines as needed.

11.    Maintain organized work areas and ensure proper storage of materials, components, and scrap.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma and one year of relevant mechanical, manufacturing, maintenance, equipment repair, assembly, disassembly, or industrial experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and demonstrated aptitude. 
 
Skills and Abilities:
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools 
•    Ability to read and follow work instructions and technical documentation 
•    Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, or repair environment 
•    Ability to identify reusable, repairable, and scrap components 
•    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
•    Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment 
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications 
•    Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 pounds 
 
 Computer Skills:
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to accurately enter or review production and inventory information within company systems. Experience with SAP preferred.  

Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver's license required. Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
