Application Specialist - Materials
Description
The Application Specialist is responsible for providing materials application support to the organization. Position will serve as the subject matter expert for materials application solutions.
Time Utilization: This position will travel up to 50% of the time. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customers’ schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Act as SME for all quality-related inquiries. Manage workflow of complaints to completion, including potential in-field investigation, organization of meetings with supply partners, and collaboration with internal Multivac teams to finalize all technical and commercial matters.
- Assist the organization by providing expert technical guidance and application expertise related to MULTIVAC Certified Materials. Facilitate customer opportunity development by managing in-field pre-sale product/application development needs and film trials as needed. Be available to travel and assist field personnel as necessary.
- Be field expert for all film-related technical challenges after the sale
- Manage in-house film qualification program, including testing protocol, reporting, continuous improvement, and technical documentation, for all MULTIVAC U.S. sourced films so they officially become “MULTIVAC Certified Films”
- Assist Business Unit Director in trials and qualifications of new materials as requested through Teams portal for Product Development. Manage requests accordingly through this system by assigning tasks and managing requested timelines appropriately.
- Partner with Technical Product Specialists and the Innovation Center to design and create tooling that supports product development efforts
- Act as single point of contact in the development, organization, and exchange of Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and related technical information with supply partners and necessary personnel within MULTIVAC.
- Develop Application Data Sheets (ADS) and other related materials to support our training goals for internal and external customers
- Perform other tasks as needed in support of internal and external customers

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in related technical discipline or five years related experience in food packaging, processing, or related technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel; and should have working knowledge of ERP systems, database applications, contact management software, manufacturing software, and project management software.
Certificates and Licenses:
Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.
