Job Summary:
The Education Assistant works in the classroom to assist the Teacher with educational programming. The Education Assistant completes education assessments, completes ongoing progress reports on a regular basis, and transitions the client’s educational records to the client’s following placement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with teachers to provide educational support and behavioral management in the classrooms.
- Facilitates one-on-one instruction as needed.
- Completes documentation in a timely manner.
- Collaborates with Teachers on lesson planning and curriculum development.
- Completes ongoing progress reports and uploads to the client’s electronic health record.
- Completes the Education Assessment with 72 hours of the client’s admission to the program and uploads to the client’s electronic health record.
- Contracts client’s previous facilities/educational institutions, etc. for transferable credits.
- Transfers the education records to new school upon exiting program and completes a “Client Education Discharge Letter”.
- Assists in group outings and field trips with the clients.
- Completes incident reports as required.
- Participates in daily shift change meetings and regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Assists in the milieu during periods of high activity as needed.
- Works effectively with external representatives and/or community members to ensure cooperative and supportive working relations and coordination of client services.
- Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team (case management, clinical, education, medical, etc.).
- Demonstrate a commitment to learning and implementing the Sanctuary Model and other organizational policies and practices.
- Participate in staff development, in-services, and training related to workplace effectiveness; model professional behaviors and implement improvements to business practices with awareness of their impact in a trauma-informed behavioral healthcare organization.

Required Position Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, written, read and verbal. Must clear a language proficiency test for Spanish.
- High school diploma required.
- 1 year experience working with youth.
- Attained age 21 years or older before first day of employment in position.
- Possess a valid drivers’ license.
- Willing to work onsite 40hrs/week.

Other Requirements:
- Blood borne Pathogens training is required on the first day of employment.
- Pass a criminal history background check though Morrison and a suitability determination investigation through the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. For further information review : https://www.opm.gov/suitability/suitability-and-credentialing-faqs/
- Proof of Vaccination (MMR, Varicella, DTap & Influenza annually)
- CPR/SFA obtained within 30 days of employment and kept current.
- Complete required program trainings and update as required, including a training in Crisis De-escalation and Physical Restraint Techniques.
- May work at multiple ORR Programs.
For positions that require driving:
- Hold a valid drivers’ license and if driving a personal vehicle, must maintain minimum auto insurance policy.
- Transporting clients may be required by using an agency vehicle.
