About This Role
The BIM Specialist II is responsible for implementing standards and procedures surrounding the use of Revit/BIM. Day to day, this role will create models, families and components, and pursue excellence for the use of Revit in our workflow. The BIM Specialist II will partner with the Architecture team to help create high quality homes, contribute to our design and technical excellence, and participate in exciting initiatives we’re bringing to MN!
On a Given Day, Your Work Might Include
Platform Template and Standards Implementation:
- In conjunction with Architecture leadership, develops work plans in response to BIM and departmental strategic objectives.
- Leads best practices and advancing technologies for the modeling, documentation, and construction of single-family homes.
- Identifies opportunities and drives continuous improvement related to Revit and BIM.
- Partners cross functionally on projects and initiatives across MN construction, procurement, interior design, and other departments.
Technical Documentation Implementation:
- Leads and performs the creation of BIM models and permit submittal documentation for concurrent single-family residential projects in the MN Studio workflow, and/or leads and performs the creation of BIM models and specifications for concurrent single-family residential projects in the Interior Design department workflow.
- Acts as a lead for the BIM/Architecture Team technology work, providing guidance and training to other technology employees.
- Supports the development and maintenance of automation scripts and AI-assisted workflows to reduce modeling and documentation times.
Platform Ecology Implementation:
- Builds and maintains libraries of families, components, and elements necessary for a full spectrum model approach.
- Ensures adherence to BIM modeling and documentation quality and standards. Review and verify model quality and composition for individual projects and team members.
- Plans and leads the revit coordination for design consultants using Revit platform and ACC.
- Leads technology continuous improvement related to BIM. Trains other employees in software tools.
- Partners cross functionally on projects and initiatives as needed or required.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent with Autodesk Revit, including model creation and maintenance, family and template creation, and script automation.
- Familiarity with Python, Dynamo, or PyRevit for BIM automation preferred.
- Proficient with Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM Collaborate and cloud-based coordination with internal and external teams.
- Knowledge of linked model workflows and establishing coordinates using survey data.
- Standard knowledge of training others on technical systems and standards.
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask and juggle simultaneous demands while remaining flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with little direction or oversight.
- Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.
- Expert knowledge of AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to be meticulous, well organized, and clear thinker with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to adopt MN processes and standards.
- Ability to model and reinforce actions and behaviors consistent with the Company's values, mission and culture.
What You Bring to MN Custom Homes
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ post-graduate experience in a technical architecture role producing Revit models and design deliverable documentation for permit submittal required.
- 2+ years’ experience with wood-frame residential architecture preferred.
- Experience with construction administration or general contracting in a technical architectural capacity considered.
- Professional Registered Architect (RA) preferred but not required.
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
- This position requires frequent use of a computer, including keyboard functions and visual acuity of 20 inches or fewer on a daily basis.
- Frequent sitting (up to 8 hours per day in total). Occasional standing and walking.
- Must be able to work in office Monday – Friday, within core business hours of 8AM-5PM.

Hours & Compensation
This is a full-time position paying $89,000 - $165,200. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Individual placement within a salary range will vary based upon factors including but not limited to candidate experience, knowledge, individual, skills, and organizational performance.
