Position Title:    Computer Specialist, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate:      $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate), $22.00 (post-graduate)
 
Department Overview: 
 
The New York City Transit (NYCT) Elevator and Escalator Department, part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), is responsible for maintaining and inspecting elevators and escalators in the city's subway system, ensuring safe and reliable operation for passengers. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop various forms, applications, dashboards and other visualizations with metrics on various projects.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to support the technical requirements with internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting systems using Power Automate.
  • Design workflows to streamline data collection, processing, and distribution, minimizing manual effort and reducing errors.
  • Integrate Power Apps, Power BI, and Power Automate with existing systems and databases to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure seamless data flow between applications and maintain data integrity.
  • Troubleshoot existing reporting to resolve issues.
  • Work on special projects and support with ad hoc analysis within the department.
 
Projects:
 
  • Prepare presentations for Management and Senior Leadership.
  • Provide analytical analysis.
  • Work on various projects that will streamline workflow, reduce tedious paperwork and have critical data available using apps and dashboards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, Data Lake)
  • Project Management Tools (JIRA, Airtable, Monday.com)
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
Required Education:
 
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA  or graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA 
  • Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science; Business Administration; Management of Technology, Architecture & Engineering; Information Science; Data Science
