Overview of Department:
 
 NYCT provides safe, efficient, and reliable service to nearly 6 million customers a day. Our Field Operations team includes train operators and conductors, train service supervisors, tower operators, dispatchers, and many others who keep the trains moving. The team at the Operations Control Center, the nerve center of our system, monitors service around the clock, communicates, and responds to disruptions and major incidents, to keep the trains running on schedule. We operate a fleet of more than 6,400 revenue cars, along with hundreds of pieces of work equipment, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. The intern will help modernized our internal systems and applications by creating database applications.
 
Responsibilities:
 
The selected candidate will use the Rail Control Center (RCC) Database to do various analysis and reporting related work. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining administrative files and records, conduct inquiries and issue reports based on various divisional audits. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
 
  • Gathering and evaluating pertinent data.
  • Processing reports/queries.
  • Preparing summaries, using Microsoft 365;
  • Assisting management in executing business goals and needs; and formulating new procedures and training materials as needed.
  • Update databases (Rail Control Center Systems, EAM/INFOR)
  • Draft Memorandums
  • Update and Maintain Microsoft Teams Files/Folders
  • Communicate with admin personnel to update systems for the betterment of user experience.

Projects:

  • Reporting - Submit daily significant events reports that are impacting critical operations from all divisions.
  • System administration - Monitor, update and improve various applications, and internal databases such as the Rail Control Center system, Alarm Desk, CAMS, Microsoft Teams channel, and Wheeler folder for accuracy and efficiency.  
  • Staff Development - Implement training materials for newly hired employees, MOW, RCC Service Delivery, External Departments; EAM division and management as required. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, process and detail oriented
  • Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and outlook
  • Time Management Skills
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player. 

Required Education:

  • Matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: Analytics, Business Administration, Human Resources management, Computer Science, Information systems
