The Network Engineer ensures stability, integrity, and efficient operation of MedVet’s network infrastructure that supports delivery of the MedVet Experience. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links across all locations. The Network Engineer will apply strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills to proactively identify, communicate, and resolve network issues to maximize performance and reliability. This position places a strong emphasis on modern WAN architecture and secure network design. Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, CloudGenix/Prisma SD‑WAN devices, and HP Aruba wireless systems is highly sought after.

- Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN, WLAN, and security systems.
- Perform proactive performance monitoring, configuration management, and fault resolution across all network systems.
- Work effectively with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues and optimize network performance.
- Manage issues through an incident queue, capturing detailed notes of troubleshooting steps and final resolution.
- Escalate issues internally and externally as needed for timely resolution.
- Collaborate with infrastructure team members to ensure smooth and reliable operation of systems supporting business objectives.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to network configurations, diagrams, standards, and procedures.
- Analyze network capacity, performance trends, and provide input for strategic planning, business continuity, and disaster recovery initiatives.
- Participate in on‑call rotation to support 24/7 operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering or network administration. Healthcare or veterinary industry experience is a plus but not required.

Additional requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of related experience and education.
- Professional‑level network certification (e.g., CCNA, PCNSE, Network+, Aruba ACMA/ACMP) highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and handle competing priorities.
- Ability to excel both independently and within team environments.
- Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- High proficiency in troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Ability to understand and support complex, multi‑site network architectures.
- Familiarity with testing, flowcharting, and data mapping tools.
Technical Requirements
- Strong understanding of routing protocols: SD‑WAN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF.
- Switching technologies such as STP, LACP, VLANs, VPC/MLAG, etc.
- Experience with enterprise network platforms including:
- Palo Alto firewalls and CloudGenix/Prisma SD‑WAN solutions (strongly preferred).
- HP Aruba wireless infrastructure, including design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- HP/Aruba and Meraki switching solutions.
- SonicWall or other VPN technologies.
- F5 or similar load‑balancing technologies.
- Experience implementing and supporting secure Wi‑Fi systems in large, distributed environments.
The posted range for this position is $77,600-$125,000 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
