The Scrub Technologist functions as a member of the patient care team, under the supervision of the physician, registered nurse and/or the unit director. This position provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub during operative procedures.
Responsibilities
- Promotes the vision, mission and PI philosophy of LMH.
- Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient services.
- Performs skills from skills checklist accurately.
- Participates in performance improvement activities, initiating improvement through proper channels.
- Respects and demonstrates confidentiality.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and advancing professional competency, meeting educational requirements pertinent to practice.
- Demonstrates flexibility regarding scheduling.
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures and displays knowledge of hospital’s emergency code procedures.
- Participates in staff meetings.
- May participate in QA, PI activities and other hospital committees.
- May participate in communications with the surgical representatives with the various vendors.
- Demonstrates expertise with instrumentation, setting up the case and physician preferences.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program, or 5 years of scrub technician experience or hospital surgical technologist experience.
- BLS Certification
Preferred:
- Recent six to twelve months of Surgical Technologist experience in the Operating Room
- Certification in Surgical Technology
