We’re looking for you. 

The Cytotechnologist is responsible for microscopic analysis of gynecological and non-gyn specimens. The Cytotechnologist also assists the pathologists and physicians in specimen procurement and oversees the processing of all cytologies. 

Responsibilities

  1. Promotes the vision and mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
  2. Demonstrates proficiency and core competency including; punctual and responsible in attendance, flexibility in scheduling, appropriate independent judgment and initiative, professional appearance and demeanor, promotes teamwork, maintains positive attitude.
  3. Acquires and updates knowledge pertinent to policies, specimen collection, test procedures, and instrumentation.
  4. Demonstrates technical expertise necessary for accurate and reliable performance of testing.
  5. Effectively manages section quality control, section proficiency, and personal proficiency testing programs.
  6. Compile statistical data for cytology department and evaluate for performance improvement opportunities.
  7. Assists in inventory control and research and development of new tests and/or improved services.
  8. Communicate section information at staff meetings, participates in continuing education opportunities, and takes part in training/mentoring of new employees.
  9. Participates in interdisciplinary committees and teams, functions as technical expert in section.

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Cytotechnology or Biology.
  • Completion of a one year accredited Cytotechnology program.
  • ASCP registered or eligible Cytotechnologist.
