We’re looking for you.

The Lab Courier is responsible for the pickup of specimens from within the city of Lawrence and surrounding areas and bringing them to the hospital for processing. The courier distributes reports and supplies to the physician offices. The courier also provides service for other ancillary departments, i.e. delivers X-rays for Radiology. Along with adjusting the route on a daily basis to accommodate stat pickups, the courier reevaluates the existing route for efficiencies and timeliness in service on an ongoing basis as needs dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the vision and mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and core competency including; punctual and responsible in attendance, flexibility in scheduling, appropriate independent judgment and initiative, professional appearance and demeanor, promotes teamwork, maintains positive attitude.
  • Exhibits professional and safe driving skills while prioritizing and organizing efficiently. Knowledgeable and observant of safety procedures.
  • Handles all specimens following standard precautions including checking specimens and paperwork for two (2) identifiers.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Proven safe driving record.
