Position Summary:
 
As an Audit Manager within Real Estate, you will review the work of your staff ensuring that top quality workpapers are produced, that an efficient workflow is maintained, and you will address any client issues that may come up during the engagement. Your knowledge of this particular industry is essential to ensuring that the audit engagements are of the highest standards. You will have an opportunity to work on clients across up to 16 industries outside real estate, with ability to specialize within the real estate industry if desired.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accuracy in all aspects of audit engagements
  • Provide exceptional service and understand client needs
  • Guide and develop audit staff effectively
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards
  • Ability to drive through multiple deadlines in a short period of time
  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables
  • Assess risk along with the design and communication of audit procedures to engagement teams
  • Understand and utilize KSM's Audit Methodology
  • Manage multiple engagement teams and prepare end-of-engagement evaluations for staff
  • Understand the skillsets and capabilities of Senior Associates and Supervisors and monitor and review work products that they prepared and report on performance while articulating coaching notes throughout the process
  • Identify technical accounting matters early and assess the impact on financial statements; coordinate with firm specialists as needed
  • Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams and function as an in-charge facilitating field work by monitoring and reporting regarding productivity and adherence to work plan schedules on each assignment
  • Maintain contact with clients throughout the year to understand the impact of significant developments in the client's business and assess the impact on current year audit engagements
  • Develop others within the Firm through facilitating levels based on industry training, advising on career development or participating in other Firm initiatives
  • Subscribe to and actively read industry publications and share relevant information with clients as considered applicable
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise
  • Understand KSM's lines of businesses, availability of services and where applicable, discuss with client management of opportunities to make valuable introductions to others in the firm
  • Develop a strategy to utilize relationships external to the firm with different types of Centers of Influence to effectuate business growth
  • Manage the profitability of projects
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments as they affect GAAP and the Firm's standards and policies
  • Willingness to travel, as necessary, depending on specific clients and industry
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • BS/BA/BBA Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree
  • CPA or CA Certification, or candidate is working towards CPA certification
  • Proficient in GAAP reporting standards
  • 4 to 6 years of current or recent audit experience in a public accounting environment, with a strong preference for real estate experience. HUD experience is a significant plus.
  • Understanding of audit services with knowledge of GAAP, GAAS and FASB regulations
  • A proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships
  • Minimum of 4 years of team lead or in-charge experience overseeing staff on multiple engagements
