Position Summary: 

KSM has a Senior Associate opportunity to join the Accounting Advisory group, a growing part of the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) team. This role provides a dynamic & flexible environment with learning opportunities in working with private equity and corporate clients on various accounting advisory projects. The KSM TAS team will provide the opportunity to drive your own career path & advancement.

In addition, this role provides the opportunity to gain experience in other financial consulting areas, including sell-side advisory, technical accounting guidance, internal controls and processes, and investigative consulting. Responsibilities:  

  • Assist the advisory team in obtaining and preparing data for purchase accounting (ASC 805) and purchase price adjustments, which includes detail review of purchase agreements, discussions with attorneys, and an understanding of the mechanics of various deals in a variety of industries.
  • Apply the contractual Purchase Agreement elements to opening balance sheets and price adjustment mechanisms.
  • Participate in meetings and (potentially) site visits with target company management, interacting with top-level management to obtain pertinent information.
  • Own the projects assigned and move them toward completion, seeking assistance as needed.
  • Support clients in post-closing disputes.
  • Work on a variety of projects that vary in size & complexity, including but not limited to: accounting investigations, internal control consulting, audit support assistance, and others.

Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience required (4-5 years preferred), ideally within audit, transaction advisory, private equity, or other finance-related roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, OR:
  • CPA, CFA, or CFE certification or working towards obtaining (preferred)
  • Strong current knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Familiarity with the M&A process & market
  • Strong project management skills, highly analytical, and inquisitive
  • Desire to work in a deadline-driven environment (independently and/or with others) while effectively managing unexpected issues and/or questions in a professional manner
  • Ability to adapt communication style to successfully convey messaging & objectives to all levels of management, clients, colleagues, etc.
  • Minimal travel as needed to various client sites (less than 5%)
