Role Details       
       
The Supervisor, Consolidated Reporting is a CPA with experience leading a consolidated financial accounting function in a structurally complex, multi-currency environment.       
       
This role is a hands-on role responsible for the preparation of consolidated financial statements / reports on a global basis for senior management; supporting compliance with and continuous improvement of internal controls over financial reporting; and ensuring consolidated results are reported in accordance with Kal Tire accounting policies and International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”). This role has a balance of performing complex consolidation accounting and performing/leading the day-to-day activities of the consolidations team.        
       
Core Responsibilities       
       
Team Leadership       
  • Provides support, guidance, and direct supervision to a team of 2, to meet departmental targets and reporting deadlines.
  • Assists the Manager in leading the team by coaching and evaluating/managing their performance on a regular basis.
Consolidate Results and Financial Reporting       
  • Both performs and leads the activities to prepare consolidated financial information that is timely, accurate and insightful, with a focus on the needs of stakeholders and related continuous improvement.
  • Works with the regional accountants in matters related to the reporting of international Mining Tire Group (“MTG”) results.
  • Supports the ongoing maintenance and development of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Researches and resolves accounting issues, including the evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements, to ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Ensures confidentiality of sensitive financial information is always maintained.
  • Assists with Kal Tire’s annual audit of its consolidated financial statements.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with Canadian Operations Accounting, Tax and Treasury in matters related to financing and the related accounting, tax and legal entity reporting.
Communication and Support        
  • Maintains contact with users of financial information to ensure the information provided is relevant for their purposes, obtaining user insight into their perspective of the business drivers behind financial results, and promotes goodwill between the finance departments in Canada and international MTG finance.
  • Provides support and guidance to MTG Accountants across geographic regions outside of Canada, with respect to technical accounting and reporting matters and compliance with the consolidated close process.
Financial Systems        
  • Maintains sufficient knowledge of changes being initiated in the various geographic regions to recognize risks to the internal controls over consolidated financial reporting.
  • Together with the Manager, Consolidated Financial Reporting and others, develops and implements changes to policies, systems and procedures to achieve the objectives for the initiatives in the business plans.
Work Experience               
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting in a structurally complex, multi-currency environment.
  • Minimum 2 years supervising or leading teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities       
  • Strong technical IFRS knowledge with a history of pragmatic application in-line with the needs of financial information users.
  • Must have experience analyzing, accounting for, and reporting complex transactions.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with full-feature accounting systems.
  • Experience with developing Power BI dashboards would be a plus.
Education                 
  • CPA designation is required.
