Responsibilities and Expectations:
We are looking for a skilled Switchgear Repair Specialist to operate and manage the switchgear testing and repair segment for the IPS Winnipeg service center. As an IPS Switchgear Repair Specialist you will work with your team to demonstrate strong repair skills and commitment to providing an Unmatched Customer Experience (UCE).
- Inspect, test, and maintain low, medium, and high voltage electrical power distribution equipment.
- Partner with sales team to draft quote proposals for future work.
- Lead a team of repair technicians on-site.
- Provide technical guidance to the team and to customers.
- Draft and finalize inspection and maintenance reports for customers in conjunction with the technicians.
- Provide information back to the service center to quote site repairs.
- Develop new customer interest by partnering up with sales team for onsite calls.
- Support existing customer base by providing World Class services.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years of low, medium, and high voltage switchgear testing, repair, and quoting
- 2+ years’ experience working with low and medium voltage pad mount transformers – testing, oil sampling, and component change out preferred.
- 3 years’ experience working with protection relays.
- 3 years’ experience of leading a team of repair technicians preferred.
- NETA certification preferred.
- Electrical journeyperson or Certified Engineering Technologist required at minimum.
- Experience with different types of manufacture’s equipment and breakers including contactors, relays, control systems, air magnetics, vacuum, oil filled, etc.
- Knowledgeable on how to operate and interpret the readings from an insulation resistance tester, ductor, ratio, primary and secondary injection, hi-pot, turn-to-turn resistance tester and a Doble power factor test set.
- Strong analytical skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Have experience with health and safety programs including lock out tag out.
- Able to work overtime when needed.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home as customers require (30%).
- Valid driver’s license throughout employment.
- Valid passport – travel to US for training on occasion.
