Responsibilities and Expectations:

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Tampa Service Center.  This role is responsible for developing and implementing the electrical repair work scope for Industrial motors and generators. This position will also be responsible for developing engineered solutions and for providing technical support for both in-shop and field repairs.

 

  • Provide Electrical technical support to customers, repair shops, and field service activities.
  • Reverse engineer motor and generator designs.
    Ensure that repairs meet customer expectations and applicable industry standards.
  • Assist with the implementation of quality improvement actions.
  • Develop and implement electrical repair and stator winding practices training curriculum. 
  • Champion development of electrical work motor repair instructions. 
  • Create and implement repair documentation such as work procedures, method sheets, repair criteria, inspection criteria, repair method documents, etc.
  • Perform component inspection and remaining life assessment of motor and generator parts.
  • Motor/generator repair methods assessment and implementation of best repair practices.
  • Continuously assess the repair methods and improve our repair practices.
  • Produce repair engineering drawings and repair methods.
  • Ability to understand the motor design features and select suitable repair/testing criteria.
  • Identifies and has a good understanding of failure modes and the cause of failures such as vibration, high-temperature exposure, power quality, etc.
  • Conduct Research on failure modes and materials processes, write reports, and complete any assigned misc. projects as needed.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • 5 years of Electrical motor maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting experience
  • Capable of performing RCFA to determine failure mode and FMEA’s
  • Communicate effectively with customers
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Knowledge of IEEE and EPRI repair standards
  • Experienced with the design, manufacturing, application, repair, testing, maintenance, and diagnostics, of electric motors and generators
  • Ability to perform advanced diagnostic assessments to troubleshoot motor, generator and control issues with applicable test equipment
  • Ability to perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and develop technical solutions to OEM and Aftermarket design related problems
  • Provide technical phone support for service centers and field service personnel.
  • Write failure reports with critical technical analysis
