Engineering Intern
Department: R&D
Job Summary
The R&D Engineering Intern will work onsite and collaborate closely with engineers within the department, as well as other Inogen associates involved in the R&D process. As an R&D Engineering Intern, you will contribute to R&D deliverables, assist with new product development and sustaining tasks, optimize in-house development testing and processes, and engage in design control activities. The intern will meet regularly with their coach to define daily tasks and reporting.
Responsibilities

Engineering Intern I
- Work within the engineering department to develop and support Inogen projects and products.
- Perform testing, experimentation, and validation to support product design and development, working independently.
- Assist with research and development on new and existing projects.
- Generate and complete design control documents, including verification and validation.
- Assist Engineering Technicians with Lab 5S initiatives.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Engineering Intern II
In addition to the responsibilities listed for Engineering Intern I, an Engineering Intern II may also be responsible for the following:
- Support new and existing product design CAD.
- Create technical part and assembly drawings.
- Execute mechanical testing of concentrator components.
- Prepare and present reports and demonstrations of project work.

Qualifications
Level I – Engineering Intern I
- Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field; preferably a rising Junior or Senior.
- Medical device experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with PCB design, LTSpice, soldering, MATLAB, data analysis, SolidWorks, 3D printing, injection molding, machine operations, and/or pneumatics preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- An equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Level II – Engineering Intern II
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field required.
- Medical device experience is a plus.

Inogen assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $21.19 and $23.37 per hour. However, actual base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and will be based on non-discriminatory factors, including as to individual skills, education, experience and market location.
