JOB SUMMARY
 

The Business Systems Specialist I supports enterprise business applications and SaaS platforms used across the organization. This role assists with user administration, reporting, workflow configuration, and system support to help ensure reliable system operations and strong data integrity. The position works closely with internal teams to improve system adoption, streamline processes, and support automation initiatives across finance, HR, project management, and document management platforms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 
Application & SaaS support
  • Provide Tier 1 support for enterprise business systems (ERP, HRIS, project management, document management, financial management, and workflow platforms)
  • Assist with system configuration, permissions management, and user lifecycle administration
  • Support platform upgrades, testing activities, and release validation
Reporting & data operations
  • Generate operational and financial reports using Excel, Power BI, and system reporting tools
  • Perform basic SQL queries and assist with data validation tasks
  • Maintain data integrity through audits and reconciliation activities
Workflow & automation enablement
  • Assist with workflow configuration and process optimization within systems
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes through automation, integrations, or system configuration improvements
  • Support integrations and data synchronization between integrated systems
System onboarding & adoption
  • Configure new users, roles, and project records across supported business platforms
  • Provide end-user training and documentation
Security & governance
  • Support access reviews and least privilege permissions
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, personnel and operational data
  • Follow internal controls and data governance procedures
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to system security and operational best practices
Operational support
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and system configurations
  • Assist Senior Business Systems Specialist with ongoing system improvement initiatives
  • Participate in vendor coordination and system troubleshooting
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
 
Experience:
  • Basic understanding of enterprise business applications and SaaS platforms
  • Foundational knowledge of IT and data concepts including databases, cloud applications, and reporting tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Introductory exposure to Power BI, reporting tools, or data visualization platforms preferred
  • Basic familiarity with SQL, data validation, or reporting workflows
  • Exposure to ERP, project management, HRIS, or document management platforms
  • Familiarity with user administration and workflow-driven business systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain organized documentation
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Willingness to learn new systems and contribute to continuous process improvement
Education: 
  • Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or relevant coursework in Business, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
