Description

The Product Development Manager will lead and support a team of Product Developers for a specific set of accounts. They pose a high level of technical expertise and will manage the teams work load and deliverables.

  • Manages team and direct reports, providing coaching, direction and development opportunities
  • Leads and assigns work flow of initial specs to the PD team for their specific accounts.
  • Works closely with the Sourcing team to make sure all specs and sample comments are sent according to the timelines.
  • Attends kick off meetings with Sales and Merchandising on initial projects to get a better understanding of upcoming programs.
  • Assesses initial project request from sales to make sure we are able to hit target costs and timing
  • Creates production timelines as needed which includes all deliverable dates for all departments.
  • Collaborates with Sourcing to ensure products meet costing targets and margin goals.
  • Displays in depth knowledge of the manufacturing process with the ability to cost engineer styles in order to help margins.
  • Helps educate the PD and Design team on production and costing limitations.
  • Stays informed on any new vendor capabilities or techniques and shares with cross functioning teams.
  • Partners Sourcing/Material Developers to develop new materials and manufacturing techniques, processes and samples used to create innovative and technically superior products each season.
  • Addresses problems with work quality, issues between employees and other concerns as they arise in an effective and timely manner.
  • Brainstorms with Design, Art, and PD team on new innovative product ideas.
  • Participate in all sample review meetings with the PD teams and guides them on next steps for the product.
  • Trouble shoots sampling issues as needed and offers creative solutions to the problem.
  • Collaborates with Quality and Compliance departments to ensure the technical superiority and the product quality/integrity and safety and liability of all products are met.
  • Works with our customer service department on any customer complaints and helps resolve those issues.
  • Works with PD Operations on process improvements and continual review of workflow and processes to maximize efficiencies and reduce costs
  • Helps improve lines of communication across departments in order for the PD process to work more efficiently.
  • Identifies and corrects any potential problems that may arise due to timing and/or production capabilities.
  • Collaborate and partner with Design, Art, Sales, and Souring teams providing technical and costs assessments on new product lines.
  • Helps create technical specs for all products as needed.
  • Prepares and maintains seasonal product lists and routine status reporting. Manages plans and tracks the development schedule of all products to ensure a timely completion following the product development calendar.
  • Manages external partners (factories, suppliers, vendors, etc.) relationships throughout the development process
  • Main point of contact throughout the development process providing clear and timely communications
  • Creates a great environment for professional development by challenging and guiding team to achieve business and career goals
  • Participate in creating and successfully executing development teams near and long-term department strategy goals ensuring alignment with overall corporate strategy
  • Coach and mentor, the product development team holding regular check in's and one on one's

 

 Must-Have Superhero Gadgetry

  • Degree in Fashion Design or Product Development.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in fashion accessories product development or technical design.
  • 3-4 years prior management or leader experience required.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator; Abode Photoshop experience is a plus.
  • Has extensive experience working with overseas and domestic factories.
  • Advanced understanding of product development cycle.
  • Vast knowledge of technical construction and material.
  • Understanding of and experience with managing product timelines.
  • Understands product costing.
  • Ability to Inspire, coach, and develop a team.
  • Adapt easily to frequent changes in the project direction, priorities and deadlines.
  • Capable of training and assisting new hires.
  • Ability to lead a team in a collaborative environment with cross functioning teams.
  • Must be highly organized and able to multi-task in a very fast paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to help solve problems as they arise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with overseas office and factory.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite of tools.
  • Experience with product tracking tools and software
Salary Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $105,000 - $130,500 annually.​Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
