Responsibilities:
  • Own mechanical design of Class-A surfaces for DC Fast Charger equipment.
  • Responsible for UI/UX components such as HMI screen and LED features.
  • Assist with wire harness specifications and designs.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Systems, Electrical, Software, and Test and Validation teams to determine component requirements, specifications, and test parameters.
  • Perform studies on charging cable management.
  • Responsible for maintaining BOM and sourcing components.
  • Responsible for generating and releasing 3D models, 2D drawings, schematics, and tracking version control.
  • Source and manage suppliers including enclosures, chassis, and electrical components.
  • Ensure design maturity through characterizations and hands-on test builds of prototype hardware.
  • Support Manufacturing with work process development and EOL tests procedures.
  • Assist with the development of field installation guides.
  • Occasional domestic and international required.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a BS in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Experience with sheet metal component design and fabrication, injection molded plastics, and Class-A Surfaces.
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar CAD packages.
  • Has worked on products that have been brought to the market.
  • Be a good self-starter, have a strong ability to deal with ambiguity, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives with limited supervision.
  • Can manage suppliers and can multi-task on different projects.
Desired Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience with high and low voltage AC and DC systems and LED lighting.
  • Experience with UL and NEC and related standards that influence mechanical design of electrical enclosures.
  • FEA simulation experience for structures.
  • Knowledge of ASCE, ISO/IEC, NEC/NFPA, UL, and other industry standards and regulations related to structures and equipment at EV charging stations.
  • Knowledge of fabricated structural frames and precast systems used to mount electrical power equipment.
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $125,000 USD to $150,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
