Description

The role focuses on mechanical integrity, maintenance optimization, and engineering support for critical terminal assets in a safety-critical environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in industrial, oil & gas, chemical, or terminal operations to work on complex, regulated infrastructure.

Title: Mechanical Engineer
Type: Long term contract
Location: Deer Park, TX - Need to be onsite - 5 days a week
Industry: Tank Storage / Chemicals
W2 Employment only

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering support for storage tanks, piping systems, pumps, valves, and pressure equipment
  • Support asset integrity and inspection programmes, including defect assessment and repair recommendations
  • Develop and support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and support root cause failure analysis
  • Support engineering changes (MOC) and brownfield / capex projects
  • Review and approve mechanical scopes of work and contractor deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, permit to work systems, and engineering standards
  • Liaise closely with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and HSE teams

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in oil & gas, chemical plants, terminals, petrochemical, or energy infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Storage tanks
    • Piping systems and mechanical equipment
    • Rotating and static equipment
  • Familiarity with engineering codes and standards (API, ASME, EN, ISO)
  • Experience working in operational / live plant environments
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical drawings
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g. SAP PM) is an advantage
