One of our clients in Oil & Gas has an opening of Cisco Network Engineer to support their team.

Cisco Network Engineer- W2- Need to be in Houston. 
Long term contract - 1 year plus
Location: Houston Downtown- Need to be onsite- 5 days a week
Industry: Oil & Gas

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cisco Network Specialist to join our client's Network team. The ideal candidate should have at least CCNA certification and 3-5 years of hands-on experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining Cisco network infrastructure. This role involves supporting, optimizing, and securing enterprise networks to ensure high availability and performance. Familiarity with asset management best practices and experience working within ServiceNow for incident tracking and change management is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless solutions.
  • Monitor network performance and resolve issues to maintain 99.99% uptime.
  • Implement and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and VLAN configurations.
  • Support network security policies, access controls, and firewall rules.
  • Perform IOS upgrades, patches, and firmware updates on Cisco devices.
  • Assist in network capacity planning, design, and optimization.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support VoIP, cloud services, and remote access solutions.
  • Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and incident logs.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for escalated network issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and security standards.
  • Utilize ServiceNow for incident tracking, ticket resolution, and change management.
  • Assist with asset management, including tracking network hardware and software inventory.
Required Qualifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, HSRP, and VPNs.
  • Experience with Cisco ASA and Firepower
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Layer 2/3 issues.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and software-defined networking (SDN).
  • Experience with ServiceNow for ITSM processes.
  • Understanding of IT asset management (ITAM) best practices.
