Highlights of the Role

EPCOR is seeking a Distribution Foreman to lead a skilled team responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing water mains and services. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide first-line supervision to crews working on heavy maintenance, new construction projects, and specialized functions such as main repairs, service repairs, and preventive maintenance. Reporting to an Operations Manager/Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality operations that support EPCOR’s commitment to delivering reliable water services to our communities.

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Lead and supervise crews performing installation, cleaning, replacement, and repair of water mains, fire hydrants, valves, meter replacements, and service lines of various sizes.
  • Maintain communication with utility workers and coordinate delivery of materials and equipment to job sites
  • Direct barricading and traffic control for water main breaks or service leaks in roadways and rights-of-way
  • Monitor crew activities to ensure compliance with safety and water quality standards
  • Collaborate with property owners, contractors, utility companies, and other departments to resolve issues and complete service requests
  • Coordinate daily equipment usage and manage work order assignments
  • Drive operational improvements by streamlining processes and fostering teamwork to deliver seamless customer service
  • Perform technical and complex tasks within the assigned area
  • Promote team development through training and mentorship
  • Oversee daily operations and ensure timely completion of projects
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested

 

What’s Required to Be Successful

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum four years of on the job or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred
  • NM Level 4 certification in Water Distribution
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in constructing, maintaining, and repairing water distribution  systems
  • Understanding of work hazards and safety measures, including trench safety and PPE requirements
  • Working knowledge in the operation of light, medium and heavy equipment as well as specialty utility repair equipment.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate teams effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners
  • Ability to monitor compliance with safety and operational standards
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and by phone
  • Ability to prepare well-organized written documents using proper grammar and structure
  • Ability to read and interpret written materials and graphic instructions (e.g., maps)
  • Ability to use computer systems (e.g., City Works) to plan and schedule work activities
