We’re looking for a Senior Specialist, Health & Safety to play a key role in advancing EPCOR’s commitment to a safe, healthy, and respectful workplace. In this strategic position, you’ll partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to manage operational risks and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health & Safety, you’ll lead the development and implementation of programs that help our operational areas identify hazards, comply with regulations, and achieve our “zero-injury” goal.
What you’d be responsible for
- Lead and facilitate the design and implementation of health and safety programs that reduce risk and ensure compliance across EPCOR’s operations
- Collaborate with HSSE team members and stakeholders to review and enhance H&S management system standards and practices
- Support strategic planning by contributing to work plans, goals, and performance targets
- Provide subject matter expertise in hazard analysis, risk assessments, workplace safety, industrial hygiene, contractor management, and incident investigations
- Define and map health and safety processes to improve efficiency and clarity
- Interpret and apply health and safety regulations, standards, and legislation
- Assess current performance measures and recommend improvements to systems and risk mitigation strategies
- Identify training needs, develop technical materials, and deliver engaging safety training sessions
- Manage the Contractor Management Program, including maintaining standards and procedures
- Oversee compliance for Physical Security and Emergency Management standards within EPCOR US Operations
- Ensure HSE Management System documentation is current and reviewed regularly
- Compile, analyze, and report key performance metrics to track progress toward health and safety goals
- Actively promote EPCOR’s “zero-injury” initiative by modeling and reinforcing safe work practices
- Communicate effectively and professionally with contractors, developers, customers, and employees at all levels
- Foster a respectful, inclusive workplace culture free from discrimination and harassment
- Perform other responsibilities as requested
What’s required to be successful
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of health and safety experience in general industry
- Proven ability to design and deliver safety training, including multimedia and online programs
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT compliance programs and regulations
- Expertise in hazard analysis, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Experience conducting safety audits, Job Hazard Assessments, and injury/incident investigations
- Occupational safety certifications (OHST, ASP, CUSA, etc.) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SharePoint experience is an asset
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences
- Understanding of technical health and safety programs, including industrial hygiene, fire prevention, accident investigation, RCA, ANSI standards, and NFPA regulations
- Familiarity with Physical Security and Emergency Response requirements in the utilities industry
- Experience with construction safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to travel occasionally as required
