| COMPENSATION: | As per Collective Agreement |
| WORKING SCHEDULE: | Monday to Friday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am (75 hours biweekly) |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of routine laboratory procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Data enter all patient and test information for requisitions in an accurate and timely manner
- Verify the completeness of all documentation and file related paperwork
- Handle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required
- Process add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection
- Process all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate area.
- Follow all guidelines for the handling of infections material
- Prepare specimens and documentation for reference testing
- Ensure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory
- Required to observe all safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge
- Graduate of a Laboratory Technician program or equivalent previous experience.
- Medical terminology an asset.
Technical Skills
- Excellent Data Entry Skills required
- Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills.
