Are YOU our next Director, Life Sciences?
The Director, Life Sciences in the Business Development and Client Solutions group, is accountable for delivering business results (revenue growth, revenue retention and generating operating income) by identifying commercial opportunities with new and existing Pharmaceutical Industry related clients. The role is responsible for developing and executing immediate and longer-term commercial strategies and translating them into tactical plans.
This role is focused on:
- Developing and promoting routine and esoteric laboratory testing solutions that enable pharmaceutical patient support programs
- Working with CROs and other organizations on testing solutions that support early phase clinical studies

How YOU will make a difference:
Develop, Implement and Report Progress Against Growth Strategies
- Develop and execute both short-term and long-term sales strategies informed by a comprehensive analysis of customer needs and market dynamics
- This includes applying targeted sales tactics to enhance market penetration, identifying opportunities for expansion into new markets, and recognizing potential for new routine and specialty diagnostic products supporting patient programs and clinical studies
- Deliver monthly business insights on sales, customer and market trends, and risks to support financial planning and enable the sales team to adjust strategies in response to changes in the health system
- Provide an accurate view into the business by maintaining an accurate view of key client performance, pipeline and business line forecast
- Develop and manage business line revenue and expense plans
Build Exceptional Client Relationships
- Proactively engage with both existing and prospective clients to understand their evolving needs. Engage clients up and down the organization from day-to-day operational contacts, strategic sourcing specialists, to business leaders and executive decision makers
- Foster trust through transparent communication and responsive service
- Leverage industry expertise to anticipate client challenges and offer innovative recommendations ensuring that every interaction reinforces Dynacare’s commitment to partnership
Lead Negotiations and Secure Contracts
- Lead negotiations and secure contracts by employing a strategic, solutions-oriented approach that balances client requirements with organizational objectives
- Ensuring mutually beneficial agreements that drive business growth and build enduring partnerships
- Collaborate with legal and operational teams to address contract terms, mitigate risks, and expedite agreement finalization
Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams
- Think enterprise wide, coordinating and collaborating across the business development team and Dynacare operational functions to uncover sales opportunities, ensure an excellent customer experience and operational success in delivering for the customer
- Develop relationships with LabCorp teams involved in supporting
Lead and Develop Team
- Lead, guide and coach your direct reports to set and achieve business targets, to improve selling and negotiation skills, to implement effective account strategies and tactics to build sustainable customer relationships
- Support the development of the sales team’s annual goals and provide continuous feedback
- As a leader, role model and coach, foster an environment of positive employee relations, strong teamwork, and employee engagement
- Create an environment of trust and open communication, by sharing information in a timely manner and encouraging multi-directional feedback
- Act as a coach to promote career growth opportunities, educational pursuits, and participation in internal development programs
What YOU bring to the role:
- 10+ years of relevant business development and/or sales experience ideally in a healthcare or scientific related industry
- A deep understanding of the Canadian pharmaceutical industry and drug development environment
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a scientific, healthcare or business discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Strong analytical skills, able to plan and use creative / solutions thinking to investigate new business opportunities
- Ability to manage a pipeline of opportunities in a systematic and organized way
- Demonstrated history of achieving and exceeding budgeted sales and profit objectives
- Excellent sales skills with a track record of tailoring solutions to meet unique client needs and the proven ability to negotiate and close deals
- Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously
- Genuine ability to build strong relationships up, down and across client organizations
- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt approach based on audience
- Collaborative by nature with the ability to engage and bring internal cross-functional stakeholders along in developing client solutions
- Operate with integrity, build trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent observation and listening skills
- Professionally assertive and courageous team-player
- The ability to get things done individually, while leading a team to achieving exceptional results
Working conditions:
- Home office with periodic travel to a Dynacare location – ideally in the Greater Toronto or Greater Montreal area
- Travel required, up to 30% of the time
Pay rate: $121,600 to $152,000 annually
The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
